The File
Alluring Olga
Stunning 25-year-old Olga is normally inside the plane rather
than perched on one of its wings. But when offered the opportunity
to be one of our Ryanair calendar girls, she jumped at the chance and managed to pull off
this incredible pose as if she’d been a model all her life! Olga hails from Riga in Latvia and
loves going on beach holidays (as you might imagine) when she’s not working. Her
favourite holiday spot is the rather exotic Mauritius, although her top European beach is
much closer to home at the town of Jurmala, Latvia’s most-popular seaside destination.
May is the perfect month, says Olga, as the weather is just beginning to hot up ready for
the summer to begin. Olga, you’re our May calendar star. Thanks a million!
Local Knowledge
Riga, Latvia
Ask the time in Latvia and you might be confused by
the answers. No, not because they speak an entirely
different language here (although that never helps) but
because they have a particular way of putting it. Rather
than saying it’s half past 10, Latvians insist it is “half
near eleven”, or “puss Vienpadsmit”. Our advice is to
grab a phrasebook and learn the numbers one to 12 off
by heart – between vodka tonics on your Ryanair flight
over – and then listen well when you make that date
with the hot Latvian guy or girl out on the town later.
You don’t want to miss your hook up the next day.
Don’t say we never help!
Travel Tips…
from those who knowWe just love your tips, so please keep sending them in! If they’re good enough, we’ll print them and send you a random prize from the treasure trove of goodies that is the Ryanair Magazine Editorial Desk book stash – so make sure to include your details! Write your tips in an email and send them to ryanair.ed@ink-publishing.com. And remember if it’s obvious advice that’s all good too.
- If you don’t speak the language of the place you’re visiting, take a few snapshots of your luggage before checking in at the airport. If your bag is delayed or lost the pics will help identify which suitcase is yours. Also take a few of the contents of the bag, which will come in handy if you need to write a claim for your insurance company. Renato Losio, Milan
- Make sure to carry a calculator with you if you plan to shop a lot in foreign markets. When you fi nd something you like, give the calculator to the vendor and ask him to enter his best price. That way it’s easy to convert the price into euros and always know what you’re spending. It makes haggling a whole lot easier, too, especially if you don’t speak the language. Dana Saade, Morocco
